MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – The Isotope enterprise (part of Rosatom's Rusatom Healthcare division) has delivered the first batch of technetium-99m generators GT-5K to Belarusian healthcare institutions. The equipment was delivered as part of the contract signed with the state-run pharmacy chain Belpharmatsiya after an international tender in 2023, Isotope's press service told BelTA.

Technetium-99m generators are used for diagnostic procedures for treating oncological, cardiological, neuroendocrinal illnesses and other diseases. Technetium-99m is the isotope that enjoys the highest demand in nuclear medicine. It is used for over 80% of the SPECT scanning procedures (single-photon emission computed tomography).

The Isotope enterprise honors its obligations to deliver technetium-99m generators GT-5K to the Republic of Belarus in a timely manner and in full, the enterprise's Director General Maksim Kushnarev noted.

In line with the contract the enterprise is supposed to deliver over 900 technetium-99m generators GT-5K with different output levels to Belarus. Thus, Rosatom will fully satisfy the annual demand of Belarusian healthcare institutions for such generators.
