Rosatom, FMBA of Russia and IAEA sign agreement on Program of Action for Cancer Therapy

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom and the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia (FMBA of Russia) have signed the Agreement on Extrabudgetary Contribution to the Program of Action for Cancer Therapy, BelTA learnt from Rosatom’s Communications Department.

Launched in 2004, the IAEA’s Program of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT) has worked to build up cancer control capacities of the IAEA member states, help them raise funds and implement relevant projects. 

The agreement was signed by Head of FMBA of Russia Vladimir Uiba, Deputy Director General and Director of International Relations of Rosatom Nikolai Spassky, and Deputy Director General and Head of the Department for Technical Cooperation of the IAEA Dazhu Yang.

The document envisages the organization of training courses for experts from Russia and European countries under the IAEA aegis in the Russian Federation in 2016-2019. Besides, a quality assurance audit for compliance with the IAEA requirements for radiation oncology will be carried out in FSBE SRC A. I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biological Center.
