Rosatom mulls Belarus’ participation in NPP construction abroad

Rosatom shows interest in involving Belarusian organizations in the implementation of its NPP construction projects abroad, general representative of Rosatom State Corporation in Eastern Europe Alexander Merten told a press conference on 1 April, BelTA has learnt.

“Qualified specialists are always in demand. Therefore we are considering these issues. Together with Belarusian partners we are developing the corresponding documents to allow Belarusian organizations partake in the construction of nuclear power plants in Russia and third countries,” the expert said.

According to Rosatom Director General Sergei Kiriyenko, the experience Belarusian companies get in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be useful for their involvement in the construction of nuclear power plants in Russia (currently nine plants under construction) and other countries where Rosatom implements its NPP projects.

The 6th international exhibition AtomExpo Belarus 2014 opened in Minsk on 1 April and will run through 3 April. The expo will feature a conference of Atomex Belarus suppliers to discuss construction issues, supplies of equipment and application of new technologies in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Belarusian and foreign suppliers will get a good opportunity to establish business contacts with NIAEP - ZAO Atomstroyexport and the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant customers.
