Russia plans to increase the share of nuclear power in energy mix to 25%

Russia plans to increase the share of nuclear power in its energy mix from 16% to 25%. This statement was made by Russia's President Vladimir Putin at the meeting with the heads of major Russian and foreign companies and business associations - participants of the summit of global business leaders at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

"We have plans to develop nuclear energy, we plan at least 25%", Vladimir Putin noted. For example, in France the share of nuclear power generation reaches 80%, he added.

Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia intends to build the most advanced and secure NPP, given the experience of the Fukushima events.
