Safety of nuclear technologies in spotlight in Saint Petersburg

30.09.2014
An international forum dedicated to the safety of nuclear technologies is in progress in Saint Petersburg. Representatives of the Russian state corporation Rosatom told BelTA that the forum is expected to gather members of the Russian parliament, over 200 representatives of federal and municipal executive agencies, enterprises and organizations of Russia’s nuclear industry, experts from CIS and non-CIS states including Norway, Finland, and Slovakia.

Participants of the forum intend to discuss the organization of response to nuclear and radiation emergencies. The forum will be a venue to share the best practices and work out proposals to improve scientific, technical, practical, legal and social aspects of readiness for and response to emergencies. A student conference Global Nuclear Safety will take place as part of the forum. Training courses will be organized.

The forum will last through 3 October. It has been organized by the Russian state corporation Rosatom, OAO Rosenergoatom Concern, the center for emergency response technology of the Russian Nuclear Energy Ministry, and the Saint Petersburg branch of Rosatom’s Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training.
