23.02.2017
The first batch of contract personnel has arrived in the new military unit in charge of security of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from Yuri Karayev, Deputy Interior Minister, Chief of the Internal Troops of the Belarusian Interior Ministry, on 22 February.

According to the source, the special battalion in charge of security of strategic government installations and special cargoes has been deployed to its permanent station in order to guard the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The battalion continues growing. Yuri Karayev said: “It is necessary to start guarding the nuclear power plant half a year before nuclear fuel is delivered. The battalion has already acquired well-trained contract soldiers, officers, and warrant officers. We are in no hurry to send military conscripts to the facility because there is no combat work for them.”

The battalion continues shakedown. Its combat performance is being tested.
