Steady electricity prices for Belarusian real sector in 2016

13.10.2015
Tariffs on electricity will not be changed for the real sector of the economy in 2016. Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik made the statement during the opening ceremony of the 20th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum on 13 October, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “As far as the real sector of the economy is concerned, its tariffs will not be changed in 2016. I would like to note that the tariffs have been falling for the real sector of the economy for the last three years. It has been accomplished thanks to the great work done in the Belarusian power engineering industry.” The Energy Minister explained that electricity prices are rather stable on the Belarusian market. “We are going to calculate their changes in the short term and the medium term as part of Belarus’ social and economic development program. The process is not static, this is why naturally electricity prices will be raised for Belarusian households to allow us to keep up with the processes going on in macroeconomics. In other words, the tariffs will be correlated with the level of revenues of Belarusians,” said Vladimir Potupchik.

The 20th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 13-16 October. This year the forum features an international specialized expo showcasing power engineering, ecology, energy saving accomplishments (EnergyExpo) in addition to an energy and ecology congress. Participants of the forum are in for an intense business program comprising 20 events. The forum is held concurrently with the 79th General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission.
