UN thanks Belarus for active position on energy issues

Director of the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative at the Executive Office of the Secretary General Minoru Takada expressed his gratitude to Belarus for the active position in the UN on energy issues as he met with Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov in New York, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Minoru Takada thanked Belarus for its active position in the UN on energy issues and pledged to support the efforts of Belarus and other like-minded countries in addressing energy issues for the benefit of global sustainable development, the press service said.

Valentin Rybakov informed Minoru Takada on Belarus’s work on energy issues at the UN aimed at increasing the efficiency and coherence of the multilateral cooperation in energy. "He also drew the attention to the importance of advanced energy technologies for the needs of the countries concerned and suggested discussing the transfer of technology within big energy events organized by the United Nations Secretariat," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.

Valentin Rybakov and Minoru Takada discussed the activities of the Sustainable Energy For All Initiative aimed at making energy services available to all, promoting energy efficiency and increasing the share of renewable energy.
