WNA: Interest in nuclear energy is growing worldwide
01.06.2015
The interest in nuclear energy is growing in the world, and this is clearly indicated by a record number of delegates at Atomexpo this year, Agneta Rising, General Director of the World Nuclear Association (WNA), said at the opening ceremony of the 7th International Forum Atomexpo 2015 in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
"The demand for nuclear energy is growing worldwide. Despite the fact that quite a few reactors are being built in the world today, nuclear power engineering shows insufficient growth. The global climate change is happening much faster than the global nuclear industry can grow," said Agneta Rising.
The 7th International Forum Atomexpo 2015 will last until 3 June and will conclude with a visit to the State Corporation Rosatom facilities, including the construction site of the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power station 2. Attending Atomexpo is a Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk.
According to Rosatom, its overseas orders portfolio exceeded $100 billion as of 31 December 2014. Last year Rosatom supplied the pilot batch of TVS Kvadrat (TVS-K) fuel for a PWR reactor in one of the European countries which opens the door for Rosatom to the market of fuel for western designed reactors.
