MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has appointed an acceptance commission for the start-up complex of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The appointments were formalized by the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. 518 as of 3 August 2023 that was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA informs.
The acceptance commission will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik. His deputies will be Belenergo Director General Pavel Drozd and Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk.
The commission will also include Belenergo Deputy Director General Sergei Bobovich, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization Aleksandr Burak, Director of the Department for Construction Control and Supervision of the State Committee for Standardization Igor Gusev, Deputy Head for Scientific Support of WCR Nuclear Power Plants of the Nuclear Power Complex of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center of Russia Sergei Danilin, Deputy Emergencies Minister Anatoly Dolgolevets and others.
The chairman of the acceptance commission will have the right to involve, if necessary, specialists from central government bodies and other organizations subordinate to the Council of Ministers, as well as other organizations.
Organizational and technical support for the acceptance commission will be provided by the Energy Ministry.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant uses the Russian design AES-2006 featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW. It is an evolutionary nuclear power plant design with third-generation water-moderated reactors. Such designs boast improved technical and economic parameters. A unique combination of active and passive safeguards is their key feature.
