20.09.2017
The preparation of the agreement to supply nuclear fuel to the Belarusian nuclear power plant is at the final stage, Belarusian Deputy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told the media on the sidelines of the 61st session of the IAEA General Conference, BelTA has learned.
“We are drafting an supplementary agreement to supply fuel for the initial load and the first reload to be signed as part of the general contract with Russia. These terms are defined in the general contract. The draft agreement is at the final stage,” Mikhail Mikhadyuk noted.
The terms for further nuclear fuel supply for the BelNPP operation shall be defined in a separate contract with Rosatom’s fuel company TVEL.
BelTA reported earlier that the first load of nuclear fuel will be delivered to the BelNPP in late 2018.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is built using the Russian Generation III+ AES-2006 design near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
