Belarus to reinforce border with Ukraine, border section near BelNPP in 2016

14.01.2016
Belarus will reinforce its border with Ukraine and the border section near the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) in 2016, Chairman of Belarus’ State Border Committee Leonid Maltsev told journalists on 14 January, BelTA has learned.

“We will focus our efforts on engineering equipment for our southern border with Ukraine and the section of the border near the nuclear power plant which is currently under construction. There are two border outposts there, Buiki and Zharneli. Their construction is almost finished,” Leonid Maltsev said.

The official noted that he referred not only to the construction of footprint detection fields and roads, but also to the installation of border protection equipment such as alarms, technical inspection posts, and drones. “We already installed such devices on the border with Ukraine in 2015,” Leonid Maltsev said. The equipment proved effective, so it will be further used for state border protection.
