MOSCOW, 10 June (BelTA) – The date of the physical launch of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be determined in roughly one week, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko during the online conference held on 10 June to discuss prospects of advancement of Belarus-Russia relations.
The ambassador said: “We are approaching the end of construction of the nuclear power plant. I should say that as far as the first unit is concerned, we are going to determine the specific date of the physical launch virtually in one week together with the Rosatom management. I still oversee the nuclear power plant's construction. We hold conferences every month.”
Vladimir Semashko added that the first unit will reach its designed output capacity in February 2021. In his words, the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is likely to start working in May 2022.
