MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Another scheduled preventive repair at the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been scheduled for Q4 2023, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich on 23 February.
Viktor Karankevich said: “A regular scheduled preventive repair at the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. Extended inspection of technological systems will be carried out as well as inspection of metal of the equipment in the reactor compartment and the turbine compartment in addition to other steps.”
A regular nuclear fuel reloading will take place as well. There are a total of 163 fuel rod arrays with fresh nuclear fuel in the nuclear reactor core. About 25% of them have to be replaced every year.
Belarusian organizations with the relevant competences and the necessary experience, including Belenergoremnaladka, and Russian ones will be employed for the scheduled preventive repair. The Russian company Rusatom Service is one of the main partners.
