Belarusian nuclear power plant personnel exposure to radiation dismissed as fake news

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – A number of Telegram channels have released fake information about the exposure of Belarusian nuclear power plant employees to radiation, the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The ministry stressed that the Belarusian nuclear power plant employs multilayer automated safety systems that ensure safe work of the personnel. The measures in place rule out the possibility of radiation exposure in excess of permissible levels in the controlled access zone.

International norms and requirements specified by oversight agencies were observed during the latest scheduled preventive repair. The work itself proceeded under normal conditions, the Energy Ministry explained.

No Belarusian nuclear power plant workers have been irradiated, the ministry stressed. The Energy Ministry reminded that reliable and objective information about the nuclear power plant's operation can be found on the nuclear power plant's website and in the ministry's Telegram channel and on the ministry's website.
