MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – An emergency response drill has been arranged in the control room of the Belarusian national power grid. For the first time the Belarusian nuclear power plant was part of the power grid in the training facility, representatives of the Belarusian national electric company Belenergo told BelTA.

As part of the drill all the personnel in charge of running the power grid had to practice disconnecting consumers from 6-10(35)kV power sources in an emergency. Personnel in charge of managing the power grid on the national level, the oblast level, the level of several districts, and the level of one district were involved in the drill. It was the first drill like that on record.

Promptly raising the output of the main generating sources was in focus of the drill. The dispatch and control personnel managed to successfully balance the workload of the national power grid within specified parameters, with the Belarusian nuclear power plant pitching in.

The drill verified the readiness of dispatch personnel to work in the autumn-winter period of 2019-2020 and the correct operation of remote power control devices. Ways to schedule power-offs and notify consumers were tested.

Actions of the personnel were analyzed after the drill. The readiness of the national power grid for emergencies was confirmed.
