Equipment is made for the Belarusian nuclear power plant strictly on schedule, BelTA learned from Andrei Nikipelov, Director General of the Russian company Atomenergomash, on 14 October.
The Volgodonsk-based enterprise Atommash sent the reactor vessel for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant on its way to the construction site on 14 October. According to Andrei Nikipelov, the piece of equipment was made on schedule approved by the customer. The project was also financed on schedule. “All the sides honored their commitments, there were no problems with finance,” noted the executive.
Andrei Nikipelov drew attention to the fact that Atommash is Russia's only factory that makes the full set of equipment for nuclear power plants, including reactor vessels, steam generators, and other products. The enterprise is capable of making four sets of equipment per annum.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build an AES-2006 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW). In line with the general contract for building the nuclear power plant the first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, with the second one to go online in 2020.
