MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was disconnected from the power grid at 12:57 on 12 July when the automatic protection of the generator kicked in, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.
In line with the standard procedure the output of the reactor unit was reduced. The radiation levels at the nuclear power plant and in the observation area did not change.
Reasons for the disconnection of the electric generator are being investigated. Once they are removed, the unit will be powered up again.
