MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been disconnected from the power grid as planned for the sake of equipment testing, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Energy Ministry's Telegram channel.
According to the source, the first unit has been disconnected from the power grid, the reactor unit has been shut down as one of the final steps of the power startup stage of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
All the systems and equipment units are being tested now. The tests will continue till 11 December.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast using the Russian design AES-2006 featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW. The engineering division of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom is the general contractor.
