MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The reactor of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been assembled in anticipation of the cold and hot trials stage, the press service of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom told BelTA.
According to the source, specialists have finished assembling the reactor of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in order to enable the cold and hot trials stage. The assembly process included the installation of in-vessel components, the loading of dummy fuel rod arrays, the installation of the protective tube unit and the reactor head.
Within the next few days specialists will get down to filling the primary circuit of the reactor unit with chemically demineralized water. Once the relevant permits are granted, the main tests will begin ahead of the hot trials of the reactor unit of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast using the Russian design AES-2006 featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW. The engineering division of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom is the general contractor.
