Belarusians working hard on nuclear station construction project

03.04.2014
Belarusian specialists do 90% of the work as part of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The information was released by Yuri Neretin, Chief Engineer of the representative office of the Russian company OAO NIAEP in Belarus, during a mass media tour arranged for Belarusian and foreign reporters as part of the sixth international expo and conference AtomExpo Belarus 2014 on 3 April, BelTA has learned.

According to Yuri Neretin, in line with the agreement the involvement of Belarusian companies in the work required to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant will stay as high as possible. “The involvement level may be higher or lower depending on the qualification a specific operation requires. It is unlikely that Belarusians will be involved in the installation of the reactor and the central circulation line but they certainly can do the rest,” he remarked.

At present five Belarusian construction companies and one Russian company are used at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. In particular, the Russian specialists take care of the reinforcement of the foundation slabs for buildings and facilities.

According to the Belarusian Energy Ministry, over 80 Belarusian companies show their interest in the work to build the nuclear power plant. Many of them already supply general industrial equipment such as lifting equipment, concrete, and reinforcements. Many Belarusian companies have been registered as potential suppliers of grade one to three equipment. Some suppliers were added to the database as part of the suppliers conference Atomex that was held within the framework of AtomExpo Belarus 2014. The equipment the nuclear power plant needs is graded, with different procedures used for admittance, acceptance, and order fulfillment control. The share of Belarusian components during the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is supposed to be at least 25%.
