MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – An international team of the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) has finished work at the site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the Information and Public Relations Office of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
According to the source, the WANO experts visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant as part of a prelaunch peer review of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. As part of the visit the experts observed how well personnel of the second unit's control room worked in a full-scale simulator.
The time for organizing the main stage of the prelaunch peer review of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was also discussed during the visit.
The Peer Reviews program is one of the long-term programs of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). All the nuclear power plants, which are WANO members, participate in this work. The purpose of a peer review is to evaluate the readiness of a new nuclear power plant unit for a safe and reliable launch and consequent operation.
The state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant became a member of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on 22 April 2015.
