First batch of Siemens, KSB pumps for Belarusian nuclear power plant by year end

22.06.2015
The first batch of pumping plants made by Siemens and KSB will be delivered to the Belarusian nuclear power plant by the end of the year, KSB Company representatives told BelTA.

Siemens and KSB have contracted to deliver ten three-phase 6,300kW asynchronous motors SIMOTICS HV Series H-compact PLUS. The motors will be part of the drives for the multistage feed pumps that will be made for the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Every power-generating unit will have five pumps with electric motors, including standby ones. The equipment will be installed in the machinery room where it will feed secondary-circuit water to steam generators.

Factories of Siemens and KSB have already started making motors and pumps for the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The first batch of electrical pumping plants will be delivered to the nuclear power plant by the end of the year for the sake of installation and commissioning.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build an AES-2006 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW). In line with the general contract for building the nuclear power plant the first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, with the second one to go online in 2020.
