MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – The first power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has generated 10 billion kWh of electricity since it was connected to the national power grid, BelTA learned from the Energy Ministry.
“The first power unit of the BelNPP has generated 10 billion kWh of electricity since it was connected to the grid. This is comparable to 45% of the annual electricity consumption by the real sector of the country's economy,” the ministry noted.
The generated electricity allowed substituting about 2.8 billion m3 of natural gas and preventing the emission of 4.3 million tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
