GOMEL, 11 March (BelTA) – The Gomel Oblast electric company Gomelenergo is implementing projects in the region's electric energy sphere taking into account the integration of the Belarusian nuclear power plant into the national power grid, BelTA has learned.
In the near future the company intends to start building an electric boiler house in Novobelitsky District of Gomel. Electric boilers are being installed at the district boiler house Chernigovskaya in Gomel. An electric boiler house has been built, heating pipelines have been laid, 32km of 10kV power lines have been laid, and the primary equipment – electric boilers, pumps, heat-exchange units, and hot water accumulators – has been installed. The boiler house is supposed to be commissioned in June 2020.
The new facility is part of the plan to develop the Gomel Oblast electric energy sphere taking into account the integration of the Belarusian nuclear power plant into the national power grid. Specialists expect the electric boiler house to help reduce the consumption of imported natural gas. It will also improve the reliability of operation of the local heating system for people in the new housing development area.
Other projects are being implemented in the region to modernize the power grid in anticipation of the nuclear power plant's launch. Electric equipment is being installed in the boiler house located at 21 Belinskogo Street in the city of Rogachev. So far foundations have been built for hot water accumulator tanks, cooling wells have been installed as well as wells for fire hydrants and storm drainage. The building for the switchgear assembly of the electric boiler house has been erected. Foundations have been built for auxiliary equipment of the electric boilers. Specialists will soon begin laying 10kV cables for the boilers from a nearby power substation. The facility is supposed to be commissioned approximately in September 2020.
Gomelenergo's regional power grid development and modernization program for the year 2020 lists multiple measures and projects designed to enhance the physical infrastructure and improve the reliable operation of the regional power grid.
