High Belarusian involvement in Belarusian nuclear station construction

04.02.2015
Belarusian construction companies will be involved in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant as much as possible. The statement was made by Belarusian Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Sergei Lastochkin on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

The construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant remains the main area for exporting construction services in 2015, said the official. More construction companies have been invited to take part in the project. Some of them have already started working, noted Sergei Lastochkin. Besides, there are plans to involve Belarusian construction companies in the erection of the Polotsk hydropower plant and some other facilities as much as possible.

According to the source, in 2015 the Architecture and Construction Ministry expects the construction industry to export 53.9-56.9% more services in comparison with 2014. “At first glance the target is hard to hit considering the fact that in 2014 the enterprises run by the Ministry exported services as much as possible. But it is feasible to accomplish the goal,” stated Sergei Lastochkin.

The official remarked that in 2014 the share of the construction industry in the GDP totaled 10.4%, 0.6% up from 2013. As much as Br102 trillion worth of contracts were fulfilled, 93.9% as against 2013. The reduction is attributed to lower investment efforts of customers and the presence of considerable accounts receivable. As of 23 January 2015 the accounts receivable for completed construction and installation services stood at Br5 trillion.
