Hydraulic tests carried out at first unit of Belarusian nuclear power plant

19.09.2019
Pipelines and equipment of the primary circuit have been successfully tested for durability and density by means of hydraulic tests. The tests were conducted under the pressure of 24.5 MPa, BelTA has learned from ASE, the main design engineer and general contractor for the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction project.

“High level of readiness of the unit allowed us to carry out the hot hydraulics of the pipelines and primary circuit equipment during the A-1 substage (equipment checking and testing) of the prelaunch and adjustment works program for the first power unit”, Vitaly Polyanin, ASE Company Vice President and supervisor of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction project said. The testing took slightly more than 24 hours.

The specialists started testing security systems of the sealed primary circuit. Hydraulic testing for durability and density of the secondary circuit is to be performed in the first 10 days of September.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW is being built under the Russian draft nearby Ostrovets (Grodno region). The first power unit is to be operational by the end of 2019, the second one in 2020.
