MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have carried out a consultative mission to provide engineering and technical support for the operation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The work proceeded in the format of videoconferences, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The IAEA experts together with invited specialists from the USA and Argentina reviewed results of the Belarusian nuclear power plant's self-evaluation of the fulfillment of recommendations and proposals, which were received during an IAEA pre-OSART (Operational Safety Review Team) mission that took place at the Belarusian nuclear power plant in August 2019. Technical support and operational experience were evaluated. The resulting recommendations will be used to prepare for a follow-up visit of the pre-OSART expert group to the Belarusian nuclear power plant in October 2021.

The IAEA's pre-OSART mission is a mission of the operational safety analysis group. In line with the IAEA regulations the missions are arranged for nuclear power plants under construction before nuclear fuel is loaded.
