There is a need to stop political insinuations against the construction of the nuclear power plant in Belarus, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told media, BelTA has learned.
“Political insinuations need to be stopped. We need to sit down at the negotiating table and have a substantive, specific discussion of all the issues that are of concern to both sides,” the Minister said.
Vladimir Makei stressed that the hysteria that is being fostered now in the Lithuanian society regarding the construction of the nuclear power plant in Belarus does not contribute to the good-neighborly friendly relations between the two countries. “In fact, the society is being drawn into the campaign, into the hysteria against Belarus. For what?” he said.
Lithuania and Belarus share a common history. The countries develop trade and economic relations. Belarusian products go transit through Lithuanian ports, thus making a contribution to the development of the Lithuanian economy, Vladimir Makei said.
