OAO Power Machines and OAO Directorate for the Unified Procurement of Equipment for NPP have signed a contract to supply major power equipment for the powerhouse hall of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The project is estimated at over $750 million. The information is posted on the website of the Russian company, BelTA has learnt.
In line with the contract, OAO Power Machines will manufacture and supply two turbine plants, including high-speed steam turbines with the capacity of 1,200 MW each, condensers and equipment of backup systems of the turbine plant, as well as two turbine-generator sets with the capacity of 1,200 MW together with the equipment of backup systems. Apart from that, specialists of OAO Power Machines will perform design and erection supervision works on the supplied equipment and will carry out guarantee tests.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units with the total capacity of up to 2,400MW (1,200MW each). It will be built at the Ostrovets site in Grodno Oblast. The design to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant relies on the AES-2006 design of Saint Petersburg Research and Design Institute Atomenergoproekt. The AES-2006 design is now being used to build the second Leningrad nuclear power plant and the Baltic nuclear power plant. The design is fully compliant with international norms and IAEA recommendations. The major power equipment for them is produced by OAO Power Machines. OAO Power Machines has been designing and manufacturing high-tech end-to-end products and solutions for the power-plant industry for 40 years.
