Rosatom agrees to replace Belarusian nuclear power plant reactor vessel
12.08.2016
Rosatom is ready to fulfill Minsk’s demand and replace the reactor pressure vessel of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, which is being built with Russia’s assistance, representatives of the Russian nuclear engineering corporation Rosatom told TASS.
Rosatom representatives said: “We will fulfill the demand of the customer. We’ve been expecting it. We have already said that we treat the decision with respect because we understand why it may have been made because public acceptance of nuclear energy is as important as the safety of nuclear installations. We are going to discuss the details with the customer.”
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a VVER-1200 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW).
