Rosatom: No official notifications about replacing the Belarusian reactor vessel yet
11.08.2016
Rosatom has received no official notifications from Belarus regarding the replacement for a reactor pressure vessel of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the press service of the Russian nuclear engineering corporation Rosatom told BelTA.
The press service noted: “Rosatom believes it is premature to make any comments because we have received no official statements from the Belarusian side.”
The press service specified that the subcontractor ZAO Sezam, which had made possible the off-nominal situation at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, is not part of Rosatom.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a VVER-1200 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW).
