MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Rosatom experts will participate in the development of a concept for preparing units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant for decommissioning, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.
The state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant and TVEL Fuel Company, which is part of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom, have signed an agreement on scientific and technical support for preparing for and for actual decommissioning of units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The document provides for rendering consultation services and for developing the concept for the decommissioning of the two units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. All ways for doing this work will be thoroughly analyzed. The lists of the necessary equipment will be compiled.
In line with the world practice the development of the concept for decommissioning the units of the nuclear power plant begins when the nuclear power plant is still operational because the process involves a lot of organizational and technical steps. Government agencies concerned and appropriate organizations will be involved in the process, the Belarusian Energy Ministry explained.
