Russia to continue providing assistance with BelNPP operation, fuel deliveries

29.11.2023

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Russia will continue providing the necessary assistance with operating the Belarusian nuclear power plant and with fuel deliveries. Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin made the statement at a session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Mishustin said: “We cooperate in the field of power engineering very actively. A momentous event took place at the beginning of the month: the acceptance act of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was signed. It is our largest joint project that is aimed at the strategic perspective. It will significantly improve the ecological situation and will stimulate further development of science-intensive branches of the manufacturing sector.”

In his words, the nuclear power plant already operates in a routine mode. “Over 20 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity has been generated. Nuclear and radiation safety has been ensured in compliance with the highest standards. Russia will continue providing the necessary assistance with operation and with fuel deliveries,” he stressed.

“The accumulated respectable experience in such a high-tech sphere represents a very good headway for further realization of joint projects primarily in allied fields: nuclear medicine, energy accumulation systems, digitization, and many other ones,” Mikhail Mishustin noted.
