MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Experts of the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO MC) are carrying out a technical aid mission on 22-26 August with regard to the experience of operation of nuclear power plants, BelTA learned from the Information and Public Relations Department of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.

WANO MC experts will be able to evaluate the current state of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and share their best practices in the area of nuclear power plant operation.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant uses the Russian design AES-2006 featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW. It is an evolutionary nuclear power plant design with third-generation water-moderated reactors with enhanced safety. Such designs boast improved technical and economic parameters. A combination of active and passive safeguards is their key feature.
