22.08.2022
MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Scheduled preventive repair of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been finished, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

As part of the scheduled preventive repair the main equipment of the reactor unit, the turbine generator, and the main circulation pumps were repaired. The first reloading of spent nuclear fuel was performed: as per regulations 48 out of 163 fuel rod arrays were replaced. About 3,000 technological systems and units of equipment were checked.

Right now the first unit is going through standard prelaunch procedures, which will be followed by power ramp-up of the reactor unit and the unit’s connection to the power grid.

Nuclear power plants undergo scheduled maintenance every year in order to secure steady performance of the equipment.
