There are no delays in the financing of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) construction project, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko told the media on the sidelines of the 7th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Espoo Convention, BelTA has learned.
“There are no delays. Everything is on schedule,” Vladimir Semashko said.
The vice prime minister recalled that Russia opened a $10 billion credit line for the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Another credit facility was arranged to finance the advance payments. The terms of the loans were preferential, and the interest rate was good.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a new-generation nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 type reactors (1,200MW each) 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
