Stator installed into turbine generator of Belarusian nuclear power plant

15.03.2017
A stator has been installed into a turbine generation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from representatives of the Information and Public Relations Department of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.

According to the source, the stator has been installed as part of a turbine generator of the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

The turbine generator stator is a steel cylindrical structure that weighs 440 tonnes. A special railway transporter was used to deliver the product from the Saint Petersburg-based company OAO Power Machines. The stator is supposed to convert the mechanical energy of turbine rotation into electricity.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is built using the AES-2006 nuclear power plant design that features VVER-1200 type reactors. The construction site is located 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The power plant will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW). The first unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
