Strong interest in Belarusian nuclear power plant’s stand at Atomexpo Belarus 2015

About 50 nuclear industry enterprises presented their capabilities during the 7th international expo and conference Atomexpo Belarus 2015 that ended in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA learned from Lilia Dulinets, Head of the International Cooperation, Personnel Training, and Information Support Office of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

According to the source, visitors of the expo included specialists from Russia and Belarus, who work in the nuclear technology industry, veterans of the Russian nuclear industry, students of Belarusian universities, who are being trained to operate the nuclear power plant, mass media representatives. Visitors of the expo demonstrated a strong justified interest in the stand of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, said Lilia Dulinets.

She noted that Atomexpo Belarus had attracted a traditional circle of participating companies from the Belarusian side and the Russian one. The number included OAO Rosenergoatom Concern, the joint-stock companies NIAEP, VNIAES, TVEL, and Rusatom International Network.

Speaking about the business program of the forum, Lilia Dulinets mentioned increased interest in the plenary session. “We expected about 200 people to take part in the plenary session, however, about 300 people turned up. The visitors were strongly interested in the development of nuclear infrastructure, because it is a topical matter for all the organizations involved in implementing the nuclear power plant construction project,” she specified.

Apart from that, the official pointed out that for the first time Atomexpo Belarus was used as a venue to arrange a meeting, during which specialists discussed matters concerning the development and prospects of nuclear medicine.

“Within the framework of the forum we have managed to demonstrate not only the confident and persistent development of the Belarusian nuclear energy industry but also to expand the scope of the event, attract a larger number of motivated specialists and people, who are interested in peaceful uses of nuclear energy,” concluded the Head of the International Cooperation, Personnel Training, and Information Support Office of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

A tour of the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was arranged for representatives of Hungarian, Ukrainian, and Russian mass media on 24 April.

The 7th international expo and conference Atomexpo Belarus 2015 opened in Minsk on 22 April. The event was organized upon the initiative of the Belarusian Energy Ministry with assistance of the Russian state corporation Rosatom. Atomexpo Belarus 2015 was held to demonstrate the latest technologies used to design, build, operate, and secure nuclear power plants. The forum also highlighted ways to ensure effective deliveries of equipment for building a nuclear power plant and non-energy uses of nuclear power. Atomexpo Belarus has traditionally taken place in Minsk since 2009.
