Timely delivery of Belarusian nuclear station promised

09.06.2014
The Belarusian nuclear power plant will be built on time and with quality in mind. The statement was made by head of the merged company NIAEP-ASE Valery Limarenko during the 6th international forum AtomExpo 2014 in Moscow on 9 June, BelTA has learned.

“The Belarusian nuclear power plant is an exemplary construction project because there is nothing to discuss but the work that designers, engineers, and manufacturing engineers do. The work proceeds well. Last year concrete operations began for the first power-generating unit. The construction workers are now past the zero mark and plan to reach mark 20 in late 2014,” said Valery Limarenko. “As for the second power-generating unit, concrete operations began in April and the zero mark will be reached in late 2014”.

According to the executive, any man who happens to be at the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction site will experience aesthetic pleasure. “Machines, mechanisms, and people are working smoothly, the construction site is clean and in order. Strict control norms are exercised at every stage. The Belarusian government believes that the nuclear power plant can become an engine of the entire economy. The Belarusian production sector is trying to redesign itself in order to allow as many Belarusian enterprises as possible to become suppliers for the project,” said Valery Limarenko.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is built using an off-the-shelf design of the 3+ generation. “It is the most advanced design on the planet. Similar stations are being built in Saint Petersburg and in the Baltic Sea region. A contract for building a nuclear power plant in Finland using the design has been signed. It is possible that it will be used in Hungary. It is highly likely that the same design will be used to build a nuclear power plant in Vietnam,” said Valery Limarenko.

The 6th international forum AtomExpo 2014 is scheduled to take place in Moscow on 9-11 June. The forum is focused on nuclear energy as a condition of energy stability. The event has been organized by the Russian state corporation Rosatom.
