The permission is based on Gosatomnadzor's conclusion. In line with the effective legislation the regulatory agency had looked into results of the expert evaluation of the safety substantiation documents and had examined the readiness of the Belarusian nuclear power plant to carry out the mentioned activities.

The official said: “The reactor power startup stage is nearing completion. Plans have been made to connect [the first unit] to the power grid today, raise the reactor's output to 50%, and raise the turbine generator output to 500MW.”
