According to the source, as of 20 August 163 fuel assembly rods were loaded into the reactor. There are certain steps to be taken to seal the reactor. They take longer than one hour or one day.

Fueling of Belarusian nuclear power plant's first reactor in progress
The first fuel rod array has been placed inside the nuclear reactor core. Fueling continues. Every fuel rod array contains 312 fuel elements 9mm in diameter and about 4m long. Fuel in one fuel rod array weighs 571kg. A total of 163 fuel rod arrays will be placed inside the reactor. The necessary tests will follow.

On 6 August the ministry's board made a positive decision on amending the license of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant to perform activities in the sphere of usage of nuclear energy. It will allow the enterprise to load fuel into the first reactor.

The official said: “Startup and commissioning operations are being completed on all the systems. The operations are required for the physical launch of the first unit. During this stage 163 fuel rod arrays will be gradually placed inside the reactor and after that the reactor unit will gradually increase output."

Plans to start loading fuel into first reactor of Belarusian nuclear power plant in August confirmed
The official said: “An energy source powered by nuclear fuel will be commissioned to supply 40% of the electricity the country needs. In August we intend to begin an important stage – the loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor and transition to the physical launch followed by the power startup later on.”
