Belarusian nuclear station construction on schedule
The construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Ostrovets proceeds on schedule and ahead of schedule in some things. The information was released by Head of the Belarus President Administration Andrei Kobyakov during a working trip to Ostrovets District, Grodno Oblast on 21 November, BelTA has learned.

Belarusbank to service Chinese loan to build power grid linkup for Belarusian nuclear station
Belarusbank has been chosen to service the $323.817 million preferential-rate buyer loan that the Export-Import Bank of China will grant to the Grodno Oblast electrical company Grodnoenergo for the sake of implementing the investment project to build the power grid linkup for the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The relevant decision is laid down by Council of Ministers resolution No.988 of 18 November 2013. The resolution was published by the national legal information website law.by on 21 November, BelTA has learned.

Construction of power grid linkup for Belarusian nuclear station to begin in January
The project to build the system to collect the electricity that the Belarusian nuclear power plant will generate and the link between the power plant and the rest of the power grid is supposed to begin in January 2014, BelTA learned from Stanislav Skovorodtsev, Deputy Director General for Capital Construction of the Grodno Oblast electrical company Grodnoenergo.

NGOs from Lithuania, Russia to monitor environmental impact of Belarus’ NPP
Environmental organizations from Lithuania and Russia have joined the public monitoring of the environmental impact of the Belarusians nuclear power plant. The Belarusian public association Environmental Initiative concluded a cooperation agreement with two foreign NGOs – the Institute for Regional Development and Democracy (Lithuania) and the Interregional Public Environmental Movement Oka (Russia) during a roundtable session to present the project “Public monitoring of the environmental impact of the Belarusian NPP”, BelTA has learnt.

750-tonne crane handed over for Belarusian nuclear station construction
The Belarusian company ZAO BPS Leasing, a daughter enterprise of ZAO Sberbank Leasing, has handed over a crane to the representative office of OAO Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company Atomenergoproekt in Belarus. The crane is a caterpillar one made by Liebherr with the lifting capacity of 750 tonnes. The crane will be used for building the Belarusian nuclear power plant, representatives of ZAO Sberbank Leasing told BelTA.

Preparation stage for Belarus NPP construction to complete in time
“We will complete the preparation stage in time and embark on the construction of the station. We expect to commission the first generating unit with the total capacity of 1170MW in 2018. The second unit with the same payload will be put into operation in 2019,” Vladimir Semashko said.

Belarus, Turkey to ink agreement on peaceful uses of nuclear energy
Lilia Dulinets, Head of the Office for International Cooperation, Personnel Training, and Information Support of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Belarusian Energy Ministry, explained that Belarus and Turkey are interested in this cooperation because it is the first time the two countries are implementing projects to build nuclear power plants.

Body parts for Belarusian nuclear reactor ready as from November
The public joint-stock company Energomashspetsstal, which is based in Kramatorsk, Ukraine and is part of OAO Atomenergomash (the mechanical engineering division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom) will complete fabricating intermediate parts of the nuclear reactor body for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Q1 2014. The company intends to start shipping the reactor body parts in November 2013, Andrei Valenty, Energomashspetsstal‘s Operations Director, told media on 29 October.
