Mayors of Russian nuclear cities arrive in Belarus
Mayors of Russian cities that have nuclear power plants came to Belarus to discuss cooperation proposals with Ostrovets. Ostrovets’ inclusion into the Association of NPP Locations might be considered on 4 July, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Volgodonsk City Duma, head of the Fund of the Association of NPP Locations Piotr Gorchanyuk who came to Belarus with a delegation of Russian nuclear cities.

Lukashenko: NPP will create the foundation of Belarus’ energy security
“We should work to reduce our dependence on one energy source, one market or one vendor. This is why we made a decision in favor of the nuclear power plant construction. In power engineering this project is the foundation of our energy security,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

Belarus’ NPP general contractor ready to start concreting works

Belarus’ nuclear program compliant with IAEA standards

Belarus almost done with legal matters relating to NPP project
Belarus is now technically able to advance to the major phase of the NPP construction project, however some legal issues have to be finalized in the near future, Director of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Energy Ministry of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Grusha has told reporters in Saint Petersburg on 26 June, BelTA has learnt.

Equipment for Belarusian nuclear reactors will be delivered in time
Reactor shells and other equipment for nuclear reactors to be used at the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be manufactured and delivered in time, Atomenergomash Director General Andrei Nikipelov has said at the international industrial forum ATOMEXPO 2013 in Saint Petersburg on 26 June, BelTA has learnt.

Turkey interested in Belarus’ experience in nuclear energy
The visit of the Turkish energy specialists to Belarus was part of the cooperation program between Rosatom and Turkey to build the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin Province of Turkey. The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) that designs the Akkuyu NPP suggested that Turkish specialists should come to Belarus to see how the Belarusian NPP is being constructed.

NIKIMT-Atomstroy opens center for personnel certification in NDT in Belarus
The Research and Development Institute of Construction Technology - Atomstroy (OAO NIKIMT-Atomstroy) opened a center for the training and certification of welders and professionals in non-destructive testing (NDT), including according to the atomic energy requirements of the Russian Federation. The center is based at OOO SvarkaServiceGroup in Minsk, BelTA learned from Rosatom.

Multi-D technology to keep down Belarusian nuclear station cost
The application of the Multi-D technology will allow keeping the construction cost of the Belarusian nuclear power plant within the estimated cost. The statement was made by Senior Vice President for Project Management of OAO NIAEP Alexander Polushkin at the international science to practice Multi-D forum Life Cycle Management of Complex Engineering Facilities.
