Ostrovets to attract investors for social infrastructure projects
The development of the trade and services sector in the Belarusian city of atomists, Ostrovets, will be sponsored by investors, Architecture and Construction Minister of Belarus Anatoly Nichkasov said following the national seminar held in Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast on 7 August to discuss construction and production management, BelTA has learnt.

Documents to start main phase of Belarusian nuclear station construction ready in August
According to Mikhail Filimonov, expert evaluation of the design documents is nearly over, the permitting documents may be issued soon. He also confirmed that everything is ready for pouring concrete at the construction site of the first power-generating unit of the nuclear power plant as far as technical and technological aspects are concerned.

Nuclear station construction site ‘an example for all Belarusian builders’
The construction of homes, social and industrial infrastructure as the preparatory stage of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction is a positive example for all the other Belarusian construction workers. The statement was made by Chairman of the State Control Committee Alexander Yakobson as he visited the construction site of the future nuclear power plant together with participants of the national seminar held in Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast on 7 August to discuss construction and production management, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian nuclear power plant project progress discussed
A large number of things concerning cooperation as part of the project to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant were discussed during consultations in Minsk on 29 July. The consultations were between Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk and Nikolai Spassky, Deputy Director General for International Activities of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, representatives of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarus calls upon Lithuania to start a productive dialogue about the fulfillment of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention). The statement was made by Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Kupchina as she met with Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus Evaldas Ignatavicius, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

Savinykh: Lithuania reluctant to cooperate constructively under Espoo Convention
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has to state that Lithuania is reluctant to engage in the constructive cooperation under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (the Espoo Convention), Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Savinykh told a press briefing on 25 July, BelTA learned.

Decision on Belarus branch of Skolkovo Foundation by year end
The decision on the establishment of the Belarusian innovation fund collaborating with Russia’s Skolkovo Foundation will be made by the end of 2013. The corresponding agreement was reached at a session of the High-Level Group of the Union State Council of Ministers in Moscow on 24 July, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota told reporters, BelTA has learnt.

Belarus to take out $323.8m Chinese loan for NPP infrastructure
The document was adopted in line with Decree No.252 as of 18 April 2006 “On the adoption of the Provision on external government borrowing and foreign loans raised under the guarantees of the Government of the Republic of Belarus” and in pursuance of the General Credit Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus (loan debtor) and the Export-Import Bank of China (creditor) on the issuance of a soft buyer loan as of 7 November 2011.

A training center of the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant is ready to help train Belarusian nuclear specialists. Cooperation prospects were discussed during the visit of the delegation of the Directorate for the Construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant to the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant, BelTA learnt from Rosenergoatom.
