Belarusian nuclear station to save $1bn per annum
By commissioning two nuclear power-generating units with the output capacity of 1,170MW each Belarus will be able to substitute about 5 billion m3 of natural gas per annum and save about $1 billion by doing so. The information was released by Yevgeny Voronov, Director General of the Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo, during the Kontury program aired by the ONT TV Channel on 28 April, BelTA has learned.

Belarus open to Lithuania about Ostrovets nuclear station
Belarus is open to Lithuania in all the matters relating to the construction of the Ostrovets nuclear power plant. The statement was made by Lithuania Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius after meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Mikhail Myasnikovich on 18 April. Mikhail Myasnikovich was in Lithuania to take part in the ninth Lithuanian-Belarusian economic forum.

Russian AEM Technologies to supply reactor equipment for Belarusian nuclear station
ZAO AEM Technologies, a daughter enterprise of Russian OAO Atomenergomash, has won the tender to supply reactor equipment and core melt isolators for power-generating units No. 1 and 2 of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the company.

The impossibility of radiation release into the environment in any emergency is the fundamental design feature of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
