Belarus to import 2.5bn kWh of electric energy in 2015
“We plan to purchase approximately 2.5 billion kWh from abroad in 2015; however, this figure is preliminary. It will be finalized taking into consideration the repair effort and the need to maintain the reliable operation of the Belarusian power grid,” the Energy Minister said. He added that it is still impossible to say how much Belarus will purchase from Russia and Ukraine, because everything will depend on the price they will offer. “The price will be negotiable. The costs are cut constantly due to the ongoing work to upgrade the Belarusian energy system,” Vladimir Potupchik said.

Russian nuclear industry specialists join in celebrations in Belarusian Ostrovets

Belorusneft to prospect proprietary assets in Russia for oil in 2015
The industrial group Belorusneft should put more efforts into prospecting the areas of OAO Oil Company Yangpur (Belorusneft’s division in Western Siberia) for oil deposits. The conclusion was made by Belorusneft technical and economic specialists at the June conference, the company’s press service told BelTA.

Belneftekhim’s profitability of sales over 13% in January-May
An increase in net profit of the enterprises was secured. The ratio of external accounts receivable without taking into account advance payments and the export of commodities and services is expected to be at most 2.5% according to preliminary estimates. The figure corresponds to the strategy that has been put together to reduce the external accounts receivable by the end of 2014, said the press service.

IBRD to lend Belarus $90m for biomass projects
Belarusian MPs ratified a loan agreement between Belarus and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on 26 June. In line with the agreement the IBRD will grant Belarus a loan to implement a project to expand the use of wood biomass in central heating, BelTA has learnt.

Gas transit via Belarus exceeds contractual amount by 7.2% in Q1 2014
The first-quarter transit of gas through Belarus made up 11.1 billion cubic meters and exceeded the contractual amount by 7.2%, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus told BelTA following a general meeting of the supervisory board of the company.
