Belarus raises oil export duties 1 August
On 1 August 2014 Belarus will raise export duties on oil and oil products exported outside the customs territory of the Customs Union. The decision is stipulated in Resolution No. 734 of the Council of Ministers as of 28 July 2014, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

First unit of second Leningrad nuclear station scheduled for launch in 2015
The first power-generating unit of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant is scheduled for launch in 2015. The information was released by Sergei Kiriyenko, Director General of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, at the routine conference held to discuss the construction of the first and second power-generating units of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the information and public relations department of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant.

Kiriyenko: Sanctions against Russia have not affected Rosatom’s contracts yet
The current international situation and the sanctions against Russia have not had any impact on Rosatom’s foreign contracts, Director General of the Russian state corporation Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko told reporters during a visit to the construction site of the Leningrad 2 nuclear power plant on 25 July, ITAR-TASS informs.

First unit of Kudankulam nuclear station past output tests
Specialists of the merged company OAO NIAEP – ZAO Atomstroyexport (ASE) in association with Indian nuclear industry specialists have completed the full cycle of tests as part of the output mastering program for the first power-generating unit of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. After the tests the unit reached 100% of its output capacity. Following the relevant instruction of the Indian regulating body the unit went for a planned shutdown for the sake of testing several systems in compliance with regulatory requirements, the press service of the Russian company told BelTA.

Gazprom’s natural gas reserve in Belarus’ underground storage facilities by autumn
OAO Gazprom plans to create an operational reserve of 1.035 billion m3 of natural gas in Belarus before the cold season begins, BelTA learned from the Russian company’s press center after a conference was held in Brest to discuss preparations for the 2014-2015 autumn-winter period and the expansion of natural gas usage.

Far-fetched complaints about safety of Belarusian nuclear station
“The scale of the project, which is not universally approved of, is unparalleled. We face pressure within the framework of bilateral relations and international organizations. They claim we have failed to get the final approvals and that our nuclear power plant is not safe. Enough! We have received the final approvals and the power plant is safe!” stressed the Belarusian leader.
