Belarus, Austria show interest in nuclear, radiation safety cooperation
Belarus and Austria are interested in developing cooperation in the nuclear and radiation safety. The statement was made at the third bilateral meeting held in Minsk on 16-17 June as part of the intergovernmental agreement on sharing nuclear and radiation safety information, BelTA learnt from Spokesman for the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus Vitaly Novitsky.

Belarus, Austria to discuss nuclear and radiation safety in Minsk 16-17 June
The event will take place within the framework of the Belarus-Austria intergovernmental agreement on the exchange of information in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection. During the meeting the parties will discuss a wide range of issues to ensure nuclear and radiation safety in Belarus and Austria, including the development of legislation in nuclear and radiation safety, radiation monitoring, radioactive waste management, operation of research facilities, etc.

Rosatom’s commitments before Ukraine, other foreign partners fully honored
“Rosatom’s position is clear: despite the current political situation, which can be complicated at times, we fully honor our commitments both across the globe and with regard to Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The Russian side supplies Ukraine with fuel and takes away spent nuclear fuel. And we are very thankful for our Ukrainian counterparts reciprocating our commitments 100%,” stressed the executive.

Russian-design nuclear stations resistant to earthquakes
Nuclear power plants, which are built using Russian designs, are protected against all kinds of external forces and are resistant to earthquakes. The fact was emphasized by head of the merged company NIAEP-ASE Valery Limarenko as part of the 6th international forum AtomExpo 2014 in Moscow on 9 June, BelTA has learned.
