IAEA seminar on regulating infrastructure self-evaluation in Minsk on 9-11 March
Specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will arrange an educational seminar in Minsk on 9-11 March for representatives of the Emergencies Ministry and the ministries involved in regulating nuclear and radiation safety, BelTA learned from Oleg Sobolev, Head of the Communications and Public Information Office of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

Gazprom to invest $2-2.5bn in Belarus’ gas transport system by 2020
"By 2020 year Gazprom plans to invest $2-2.5 billion in the development of the transport system of Belarus, and $1.1 billion in the project to ramp up the capacity of underground gas storage facilities,” Yuri Ushakov said.

Belarus’ oil import up by 5.9% to 22.5m tonnes in 2014
In 2014 Belarus increased crude oil import by 5.9% as against a year earlier to 22.5 million tonnes, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

Belarus expects lower price for Russian gas in H2
"We believe that staring from 1 July, if the situation on the Russian market unfolds the way it has been so far, the gas price will fall," said the Minister. He noted that there is a formula that is specified in the agreement between Belarus and the Russian Federation. According to this formula, the input price for gas this year has been reduced.

Belarus intends to double export of electricity in 2015
"If everything goes as we hope, we will export 1 billion kWh of electricity in 2015. In 2014 Belarus exported about 500 million kWh," the Minister said. This will be the first time Belarus will export such a big volume of electricity.

Belarus to import 2.5bn kWh of electricity from Russia in 2015
At the beginning of this year, the Energy Ministry announced plans to import about 2.8 billion kWh of Russian electricity in 2015, which would account for about 7% of the country’s total consumption. This year Belarus is expected to consume 38.5 billion kWh of electricity.

Belarus economy development projections based on $50 per barrel of oil
The government suggests using the Belarusian economy development scenario that envisages the annual price for oil at $50 per barrel, with the Russian ruble exchange rate at RUB62 per $1, as the basic scenario for 2015. The statement was made by Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov during the sixth session of the fifth convocation House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 25 February as he presented the government’s action program for 2015, BelTA has learned.

Minsk to host AtomExpo Belarus 2015 on 22-24 April
“The main aim of the expo and conference will be to demonstrate the latest technologies of design, construction, operation, and safety protection of nuclear power plants, to ensure effective supply of equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP), and to facilitate the development of the system of training of nuclear specialists in Belarus,” the press service explained.

Russia may build more nuclear reactors in Hungary
Russia does not rule out the construction of new power-generating units for Hungarian nuclear power plants in the future if Budapest approves of the idea, BelTA learned from Sergei Kiriyenko, head of the Russian state nuclear engineering corporation Rosatom.

Latvia interested in increasing transshipment of Belarus’ cargo via Riga port
Belarus and Latvia signed a memorandum of cooperation in logistics at the last session of the intergovernmental commission for trade, economic and cultural cooperation in December 2014. “The session was different from the previous ones, because we managed to make our cooperation more specific. This pertains to the transshipment of liquid products (mainly, oil products) from Belarus via Freeport of Riga,” Mihails Popkovs said. A dramatic increase in cargo flow from Belarus is also a possibility. Freeport of Riga might build up its capacities with a view to increasing the volume of liquid products transshipped via the port.
